Privacy policy

1. No accounts

Trademark Search has no user accounts and no sign-in. Free searches ask for nothing: no email address, no registration. The personal information we do hold (a buyer's email address and purchase details) is handled under PIPEDA, Canada's federal privacy law.

2. What we collect and why

• The names you search. Processed to run the search and show results. Result pages are cached briefly at our hosting edge so repeat searches load quickly.
• Your email address. Collected at checkout and used only to deliver the clearance report you bought and, for Watch subscribers, to send alert emails. We do not use it for marketing and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.
• The name attached to a report or watch. Stored so your report link keeps working and so the weekly Watch checks can run.
• Basic operational logs (errors, request metadata), kept to keep the service working.

No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, no sale of data, and no use of your data to train AI models.

3. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's checkout pages. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us; we receive only your email address and the purchase details. Stripe's handling of payment data is described in Stripe's own privacy policy.

4. Where data lives (cross-border disclosure)

Trademark Search runs on infrastructure provided by US companies, so your data may be processed or stored outside Canada and is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions:

• Cloudflare (US): hosting and the database (Cloudflare D1) that stores report and watch records.
• Stripe (US): payment processing.
• Resend (US): email delivery.

The trademark records themselves are public USPTO and CIPO data.

5. Retention and deletion

• Report records are kept so your report link stays valid; each report regenerates from the current records when you open it.
• Watch records are kept while the subscription is active; a cancelled or unsubscribed watch stops running.
• Email hello@prometheuslabs.ca to have your email address and records deleted. We may keep minimal transaction records where tax or accounting law requires it.

6. Email and unsubscribe

Watch alert emails identify the sender and carry a working one-click unsubscribe link; unsubscribing stops the alerts. The report delivery email is transactional: it is the product you bought.
